9/11 - l'expo panoramique

A l'heure où New York s'apprête à célébrer l'anniversaire le plus triste de son histoire, Todd Stone nous ouvre les portes de son atelier hors du commun situé au 48ème étage du World Trade Center 7.

A la place des tours jumelles, s'érigent désormais tout un complexe de buildings, voyant le jour un à un: http://www.wtc.com

Il y a 10 ans, ce peintre était déjà là, dans son studio, témoin malgré lui de cette scène de destruction massive. Aujourd'hui il souhaite partager son émotion à travers l'exposition de ses tableaux qu'il a continué de peindre tout au long de son évacuation ce fameux jour J puis une série de tableaux uniques en leur genre sur l'évolution du chantier.

Quoi de mieux que ce lieu exceptionnel pour s'imprégner de l'intensité du drame  mais aussi la reconstruction et l'espoir désormais à travers ces chantiers en béton armé, pourtant aussi fragiles que colossaux.

Un petit mot de l'artiste: 
"My Tribeca painting studio borders the World Trade Center site and this work documents the changing Lower Manhattan skyline over the last ten years.  I witnessed the September 11th attack from my studio window and drew and painted throughout the day on my rooftop until I was evacuated. Witness brings to bear my thirty-year painting practice on what I saw from my home and workplace. The twenty watercolors depict the succession of events of the day and its aftermath.  Downtown Rising is a series of paintings chronicling the changes in the Downtown streetscape and skyline with a particular focus on the rebuilding of Seven World Trade Center. The most recent paintings depict the view from the 48th floor of Seven World Trade Center looking Downtown over the Memorial site construction. The paintings foster a dialogue about how the external face of a city’s skyline reflects its peoples shared inner life".

Après vous pouvez toujours essayer de le contacter, après tout, les artistes dans cette ville n'ont pas la grosse tête et sont plutôt accueillants.
